¿Ser o estar? (Please, note that in the sentence ´I am taller than you´ you could actually use either verb. Technically speaking, we use ´ser´ for physical descriptions but in certain cases, we can use ´estar´ when we want to emphasize the idea of looking ´taller´ when still growing or because we are wearing high heels or we are standing on some platform. In this case, though, the meaning is different. We are describing a ´state´, ´the way things look´. So in effect, you can hear:

1. Soy más alto que tú
2. Estoy más alto que tú

But remember the meaning is different:

1. I am taller than you: a fact, a definition, a physical description

2. The way things look, the situation, the state, the condition we´re at
